On Wednesday 25th February 2026, Year 5 pupils from St Barnabas CE First and Middle School were invited by the Bee Friendly Trust, in partnership with Worcestershire Community Rail, to help design new signage for the Worcestershire Parkway Eco Area Project at Worcestershire Parkway Railway Station. St Barnabas was one of only four local schools selected to take part in this exciting community initiative.

As part of the project, the children learnt about the environmental importance of the site and explored the variety of plants and wildlife that can be found there. They were then challenged to create drawings inspired by the local environment, which would help shape the visual identity of the eco area.

On Thursday 24th September 2026, two pupils from the original Year 5 class, now in Year 6, were chosen to represent St Barnabas CE First and Middle School at the project's grand unveiling. The children had the honour of cutting the ribbon to officially open the eco area and were delighted to see their classmates' artwork brought to life across the site.

The class designs have been transformed into wooden benches, information panels and decorative display boards throughout the eco area, helping visitors learn about and appreciate the local wildlife. The Bee Friendly Trust plans to build on these features during future phases of the project as it develops the site's outdoor education space.
