At St Barnabas CE First and Middle School, we aim to inspire pupils’ aspirations, self-belief and curiosity about the world of work. Our careers education helps children develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes they need to understand the wide range of opportunities available to them in the future.

We focus on raising aspirations by helping pupils see clear links between their learning and real-life careers. Through a progressive careers programme, children are encouraged to explore different roles, develop key skills such as teamwork, communication and problem-solving, and begin to think about their future goals in an age-appropriate way.

Careers education is delivered through a variety of engaging approaches, including:

• Careers-themed days and workshops
• PSHE curriculum links
• STEM-based projects and challenges
• Educational visits and visitors to school
• Explicit links between classroom learning and real-world careers
• Enrichment opportunities
